Irish Whiskey Sour

Dear reader,

A nod to the traditional Whiskey Sour, but leave out the egg white and infuse it with green tea. This celebratory drink is composed of 5 simple ingredients, including matcha, for color, energy, and antioxidants. Cocktail with benefits, anyone?

What’s typically in a Whiskey Sour?

A traditional Whiskey Sour typically includes fresh lemon or lime juice to keep it bright and tart, with warm floral notes from the whiskey, and a touch of sweet. Compared to the sweeter American bourbons and ryes, Irish Whiskeys are known for the smooth but less sweet flavor due to the prolonged distillation process. This particular flavor profile balances beautifully with the subtle, earthy notes that matcha brings to glass.

Serve on the rocks with orange or lemon peel, and don’t forget a sweet dark cherry or two. Sláinte!

Until next time,

Bridget
